Yttrium Carbonate is a water insoluble Yttrium source that can easily be converted to other Yttrium compounds, such as the oxide by heating (calcination). Carbonate compounds also give off carbon dioxide when treated with dilute acids. Yttrium has the highest thermo-dynamic affinity for oxygen, useful in ceramics for crucibles for molten reactive metals, in florescent phosphors, computer displays and automotive fuel sensors. Yttria stabilized zirconia is used in high temperature applications and as an electrolyte in fuel cells. Yttrium Carbonate is generally immediately available in most volumes.
